Phoenix RV Collision Repair

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

Experiencing an accident or collision is something that we all hope will never happen to us. Unfortunately, however, even if we’re not at fault accidents have a way of finding us. If you have been in a accident in your RV or Motorhome you need to seek professional help to make sure that the damage is properly repaired. When looking for a repair shop to handle your collision repair you want to find a company that is preferred by your insurance provider.

Finding a preferred RV repair facility that works with most major insurance companies can reduce the amount of hassle you experience when you make your claim. Before you make your final decision and drop your vehicle off with a repair shop make sure that you shop around and get a few different quotes from other companies. You should also read reviews from past customers and see what kinds of experiences they have had.

State of the Art Facility

Another thing to take into consideration when looking for a Phoenix RV collision repair center is what kind of facility they have. You want to make sure that they have quality tools and technicians. You should be able to ask them to see their facility and have them give you a quick tour. That is also a very good time to see if they have any examples of their work.

What About Tire Blow-outs?

Tire blow-outs in a RV or Motorhome can cause a lot more damage than what appears on the surface. At RV Renovators our number one goal with all our clients is safety! We know how important your RV is to you and we will treat it just as if it were our own. When you come to RV Renovators you’ll see that we have a real passion for Motorhomes and that we work hard for your business.

Buying a New RV vs. Used

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

There are a lot of things to take into consideration when you’re purchasing a RV or Motorhome. The first major decision you’ll want to make is whether you want to buy a new RV or a used one. Here are a few pros and cons to help you make the right choice for your next coach:

Pros for Brand New

With a brand new RV you get a similar experience to purchasing a brand new car. Everything is in perfect condition, it smells brand new, and you can select from a number of different options to configure it the way you’d like. As well when you purchase a brand new RV you also get a manufacturers warranty for piece of mind.

Cons for Brand New

Once again, just like buying a new car, when you purchase a RV you have to take into consideration the depreciation the occurs once you drive it off the lot. Even the price itself is a reason to consider purchasing a used RV. Brand new RVs can be very expensive depending on the make and model.

Pros for Used

Buying a used RV is a great way to get out and enjoy the open road while only spending a fraction of the money that you would on a new one. With a used Motorhome you can take some of the money you saved by not buying a new one and use it to renovate the used RV. When you renovate a RV you can redo the cabinets, floors, and furniture to give your coach a whole new feel. You may even be able to make it meet your style more than a brand new one.

Cons for Used

With a used RV you may not have any factory warranty remaining. If you don’t have a full inspection there may be hidden problems that you were not aware of at the time of purchase. Before you renovate it, it may not be quite your style or taste.

Taking Your Family Camping

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Summer is coming to a close and with fall around the corner, now is the perfect time to take you family camping. Now that the scorching summer temperatures are leaving you can enjoy quality time with friends and loved ones out in nature. Thanks to years of innovation there are now hundreds of different ways you can enjoy the great outdoors.

While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a standard tent and sleeping bag, some people, myself included, like to camp in a RV or Motorhome. There’s a variety of RV’s, campers, trailers, fifth wheels, and toy haulers to choose from and all are designed to fit different individual needs.

What’s So Great About a RV?

If you’ve never had the opportunity to go on a road trip, or go camping in a RV or Motorhome, then it’s understandable for you to be a little skeptical. The truth is that RV’s are something that you really have to experience to appreciate. With a RV the purpose isn’t to get from A to B as quick as possible. The purpose is to enjoy the entire trip as much as possible.

Motorhomes do a wonderful job at providing you with all the things you wish your car had during a long drive. For example, as a passenger if you get tired in a motorhome you can go to the back lay down on the queen sized bed and take a nap. Hungry? Just head to the kitchen and make yourself a sandwich. Most Motorhomes come equipped with several TVs as well so that you can watch your favorite movies as they were meant to be seen.

Another wonderful feature of RVs and Motorhomes is their general size. Because they are so big there’s usually room for family and friends. What makes the journey so enjoyable is the fact that you can all be together without being scrunched together. Road trips in cars can get old fast when you’re short on leg room and fighting for an arm rest.

Aren’t New RV’s Expensive?

Times are tough and purchasing a brand new RV may not be feasible for most people. If this is the case, don’t worry, because you can get still a great used Motorhome for a good price. What most people end up doing is they buy a used RV and then they renovate it so that it fits their needs and preferences. By purchasing a used RV and then renovating you can save a lot of money over a brand new coach.

RV Tire Replacement

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Every vehicle has a specific purpose and should have tires to match. A Formula 1 race car driver would have a hard time keeping his car on the track without ultra sticky tires. Jeeps and other extreme off-road vehicles need tires designed for dirt, mud, sand, and other natural surfaces. Similarly RVs and Motorhomes need special tires that can handle the tremendous weight of the vehicle.

With every RV tire blowout there is usually a pretty good chance that other parts could have suffered damages. There are several components such as lift systems, valves, and electronic fuse boxes that are commonly located within the wheel well of RV and when a tire blowout occurs there is a chance that something else will get damaged. Even the wheel itself can be bent from the sheer weight of the RV.

What to do if a blowout occurs

If you experience a tire blowout the first thing that you need to do is stay calm and try and maintain control of your vehicle. Slow down gradually until you reach a complete stop in a safe place to the side of the road, as far out of the way of passing traffic as possible.

You will want to contact an experienced RV service and repair shop to see if they have mobile repair and can come take a look at your vehicle. Once your tire is replaced or repaired you may be able to drive short distances, but before you head out on another long trip you should have your vehicle inspected to make sure that no other main components were damaged.

RV Inspection

Find a local RV shop that has several years experience and positive reviews to perform the inspection. Their number one goal should be making sure that your Motorhome is in safe working condition. You will want to confirm that they have certified technicians so that you can trust them when they say they know what they’re doing.

If you have experienced a RV tire blowout and are needing to have it replaced and or have your vehicle inspected call RV Renovators. RV Renovators has been helping RV enthusiasts for over 35 years and we know how to get the job done right. (480) 818-5904

Painting RV Cabinets

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Painting or staining RV cabinets is a great way to renovate your interior and update the look of your coach. Before you start you should do some research and make sure that you get the right paint or stain for the wood that you have. Making sure that the surface is prepped correctly before you begin painting can save you a lot of time and frustration in the future.

When it comes to staining there is a good chance that you will have to sand the surface of your cabinets before you begin, otherwise the stain may not be fully absorbed by the wood. If your stain isn’t absorbed into the wood properly the final color tone may not be what you expected. Also if there is a sealant on the wood before you begin then overtime the new stain that you apply may rub off and ruin all the time and effort you put in.

Installing New Cabinets

Even though RV cabinetry may seem really similar to normal kitchen cabinets they are in fact very different. RV cabinets have to be able to withstand lots of weight and vibration at the same time. Otherwise the next time you hit a bump in the road the whole kitchen would fall apart. In order to make cabinets more sturdy there are a lot of extra components that need to be installed.

If you are wanting to install new cabinets in your RV it is best to consult professionals about doing the work for you. Here at RV Renovators we have over 35 years experience renovating RVs and one of our main specialties is cabinet renovation. We always keep in mind things like motion and vibration prevention, door stoppers, catches, and self-closing hinges. Our number one goal with all projects and especially RV cabinet renovation is safety.

Benefits of New Cabinets

One of the main benefits that most people see with updating their cabinets is that they are usually able to increase their storage space. A lot of older RV cabinets are designed to house big heavy TVs and by replacing them with cabinets designed for newer flat screen TVs you can create a lot of extra room.

Another benefit, however subjective it may be, is that new cabinets can really make the interior of your vehicle look amazing! You can finally have the mobile kitchen that you’ve always dreamed of in your Motorhome. If you are curious about your options for renovating your RVs cabinets then don’t hesitate to give us a call for a free consultation. (480) 818-5904

Ready for RV Renovation?

Friday, September 9th, 2011

Why spend thousands of dollars on a brand new RV when you can renovate your existing coach for much less? RV Renovation is a great way to customize your Motorhome or RV and make it exactly the way you want without paying for the price of a new one. A lot of times, after renovation our clients end up with nicer interiors than they would have had they gone with a brand new RV.

Upgrading your Interior

When it comes to interior renovation there are three main areas that you can focus on to make a drastic change:

1. Cabinets- Changing the cabinets in your RV can have a dramatic effect on the appearance of your RV. You can either resurface your existing cabinets or replace them with entirely new ones. By renovating your cabinets you can not only achieve a better look, but also improve your storage space. Updating cabinets to house newer model flat screen TVs can increase the room you have for storage.

2. Flooring- The second main area of focus for renovating a RV interior is the flooring. Choosing a hardwood or tile floor can really highlight the beauty of your new cabinets and add an overall feel of luxury to the space. Plus, hardwood and tile floors are a lot easier to keep clean than carpet and can last for several years.

3. Furniture- The furniture in a RV sees a lot of where and tear over the years. If your seats are looking a bit haggard then its time to replace them with something new. As well there’s nothing wrong with changing your furniture to match your latest upgrades.

How About the Exterior?

You don’t have to stop with the interior when it comes to renovating your existing RV. Go ahead at splash some new paint on the outside and make your Motorhome look just like new. At RV Renovators not only do we handle interior renovation, but we also do RV painting ranging from scratch removal and touch-ups to full custom paint jobs.

If you’re interesting in renovation for your RV call the experts at RV Renovators for a free quote today! RVs are our passion and we would love to help you create the RV of your dreams. (480) 818-5904

Trouble with a Fifth Wheel Hitch

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

Toy Haulers and other fifth wheels are an excellent way to enjoy a vacation with family and friends. Most newer models come with just about everything you could imagine to make your camping experience a blast. Toy Haulers have a special garage in the back with a ramp that allows you to easily load your dirt bikes and other ATV’s.

The interior of a fifth wheel can be customized any way you please. From floors and cabinets to custom electronics and furniture, the fifth wheel is a great platform for upgrades. Fifth wheels attach to a special hitch that is mounted in the bed of a truck. There is a rail system that stays in permanently and the hitch can be removed if you want to free up more cargo space. The actually hitch however can sometimes be stubborn to work with. Even though the hitches are very heavy duty and designed to carry the massive weight of a fifth wheel, they still have a tendency to give some people problems.

If you are having trouble with your fifth wheel hitch then RV Renovators can help. We can inspect it to make sure that we know exactly what the problem is so that we can avoid any unnecessary work. As mentioned earlier, due to excessive wear and tear, some fifth wheel hitches fail sooner than later. If you’re planning a trip then you should have the hitch inspected or replaced if necessary in order to ensure piece of mind while traveling.

Renovating your RV Furniture Before your Next Vacation

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Family road trips can be exciting and extremely memorable. Hitting the open road and spending some quality time with loved ones is a great way to strengthen the family bonds. If you are planning on bringing several passengers along with you on your next trip then it may be time to consider changing your seating arrangements. Due to long hours and thousands of miles of use, RV furniture can begin to show signs of wear and tear.

If you’re ready for a little RV furniture renovation then RV Renovators can help. We usually suggest that you pick out your furniture ahead of time at a RV furniture outlet of your choice. Then once you have selected the pieces that best fit your needs, we can install them so that everything looks like it came from the factory that way.

What to Consider When Choosing New RV Furniture

1. Style- One of the benefits of renovating your RV furniture is that you can customize the interior space to be exactly the way you want it. Whether you’re looking for modern and contemporary furniture, or a piece of the countryside, there are plenty to match.

2. Comfort- RVs are all about comfort and convenience. No matter how good a piece of furniture looks, if it isn’t comfy then you’ll end up resenting it. Make sure that you test all of the furniture before you decide to install it and go on a long vacation.

3. Usability- Similar to comfort you want your furniture to be practical. Maximizing seating can come in handy when you’ve got a bunch of passengers who all want to have their own space. You should also keep in mind the maintenance involved with furniture. For example when it comes time to clean off your couches a surface like microfiber may be easier to clean than leather.

What Other Things Should I Consider Before I Start Traveling?

Before you head out on your next RV vacation it is important that you have your RV or Motorhome inspected to make sure that all components are working properly. At RV Renovators we perform pre-trip inspections to help you feel confident that you can travel worry free that something will go wrong that could have been prevented.
