RV Tire Replacement

Every vehicle has a specific purpose and should have tires to match. A Formula 1 race car driver would have a hard time keeping his car on the track without ultra sticky tires. Jeeps and other extreme off-road vehicles need tires designed for dirt, mud, sand, and other natural surfaces. Similarly RVs and Motorhomes need special tires that can handle the tremendous weight of the vehicle.

With every RV tire blowout there is usually a pretty good chance that other parts could have suffered damages. There are several components such as lift systems, valves, and electronic fuse boxes that are commonly located within the wheel well of RV and when a tire blowout occurs there is a chance that something else will get damaged. Even the wheel itself can be bent from the sheer weight of the RV.

What to do if a blowout occurs

If you experience a tire blowout the first thing that you need to do is stay calm and try and maintain control of your vehicle. Slow down gradually until you reach a complete stop in a safe place to the side of the road, as far out of the way of passing traffic as possible.

You will want to contact an experienced RV service and repair shop to see if they have mobile repair and can come take a look at your vehicle. Once your tire is replaced or repaired you may be able to drive short distances, but before you head out on another long trip you should have your vehicle inspected to make sure that no other main components were damaged.

RV Inspection

Find a local RV shop that has several years experience and positive reviews to perform the inspection. Their number one goal should be making sure that your Motorhome is in safe working condition. You will want to confirm that they have certified technicians so that you can trust them when they say they know what they’re doing.
